The Westpac Business Award for Excellence in Community Contribution recognises organisations that implement initiatives that have a positive impact on the community and generate outcomes that have a long term benefit.

ICB’s submission was assessed on the following contributions.

  • The development of the Pt Chevalier School gardens

  • Renovation relief for an elderly couple

  • Support and sponsorship of ICB staff’s Dragon Boat racing team

  • Various children’s sporting events

  • Organising the Big Boys Toys Excavator Operator competition which raised $3K for Canteen and $6K for Gici.

  • 21 years of sponsorship of the Westpac helicopter

  • Initiating a CCNZ community garden project, using treated timber offcuts

  • Contributing materials, including treated timber offcuts and 70 concrete panels valued at $10K, to Auckland community recycling centres

  • Using the Civilshare app to divert approx. 150m3 of treated timber from Landfill, so the offcuts could be used for community gardens and schools

  • Supporting the ‘Race for Life’ for terminally ill patients so they can ride in exotic race cars, motorcycles, helicopters and or trucks at Hampton Downs. ICB donates time and funds to this worthy initiative.

  • Successfully recruiting 11 staff members from Corrections, giving them a chance to reintegrate into the community and a second chance to live a normal, crime-free life.
